I. Introduction

There are many types of powers in our lives. Some are considered beneficial for human welfare, while others are considered harmful. These are said to be the occult powers.

Definition of occult powers, their effects

Occult powers, often manifested as negative energy (rajas, tamas), can inflict serious harm. When invoked through specific mantras like 'Om Namah Shivaya', kriyas such as 'Shiva Puja', or tantra methods, these powers can lead to disturbed minds, health issues, financial loss, fear, insomnia, and other difficulties.

Do occult powers do good or bad?

If someone uses occult powers for their selfish interests, it may give some temporary results. But its effect does not last long. These mainly increase negative energy, and the person who uses them also has to experience negative vibrations (from minor problems to losses throughout life). Therefore, according to Hindu Dharma, the use of occult powers is immoral and should be avoided.

Existence of powers in Hindu philosophy

According to Hindu philosophy, all kinds of powers exist in this world. Good powers are called 'divine powers', and evil powers are called 'demonic powers' or 'occult powers'. Lord Shiva, the supreme protector, rules the entire world. Suppose we have the grace of Lord Shiva. In that case, no negative energy can harm us.

A balance of powers is essential in this nature. For example, current (electricity) can be used for good or bad. Similarly, powers can be good or bad depending on our needs. But occult powers usually work in a way that leads to degradation.

That is why, in Hindu philosophy, Shiva is worshipped as the great God, the supreme protector. By taking refuge in him, we remove the hostile powers upon us. Shiva is the original God who dispels fear, gives us true peace, and ensures our safety.

II. Effects and consequences of occult powers

A common question is: Do occult powers exist? Or are they just a result of imagination, fear, or superstition? Many people doubt this. But when we look at Hindu philosophy, mythology, and the stories of experienced people, we can realise that the existence of occult powers is actual.

Are occult powers real, or are they imagination and fiction?

Everything has two forms: positive (good energy) and negative (evil energy). We will have a good atmosphere and auspicious effects if we think positively. Similarly, when negative energy increases, we will face negative consequences.

Electricity, wind, and gravity are not visible to our eyes. But we can feel their effects. Similarly, even though the evil forces are not directly visible, their effects can be seen in some special situations.

Similarly, many Puranas, Vedas, and Shastras have described evil forces in detail. They can affect people or places through unique methods. However, they cannot harm those with devotion, virtue, and power.

How can I determine if I am under the influence of evil forces?

A person under the influence of evil forces faces many types of problems. Some of the main symptoms are:

1. Physical symptoms:

Sudden severe physical fatigue, insomnia

Health problems that even doctors do not understand

Unexplained weight in the body, the feeling of pressure

2. Mental symptoms:

Excessive fear, irritability

The feeling of being alone all the time

Lack of enthusiasm to do things

Having scary dreams in the middle of the night

3. Financial & family problems:

Unexpected financial losses

Work stops halfway

Increase in unnecessary conflicts and fights

4. Spiritual symptoms:

Lack of enthusiasm to go to temples

Feeling impatient when listening to Hanuman Chalisa and Shiva mantras

Incense and lamps suddenly go out

If you have these symptoms, you can check if you are under the influence of occult powers. However, since some physical and mental health problems can also cause these, we should first consider our health.

Effect of occult powers as negative energy

Occult powers mainly work to increase negative energy. These can affect our thoughts and make the mind restless and depressed. Some essential side effects are:

Effect on personality: Weakness, loss of self-confidence

Family relationships: Unnecessary quarrels, disputes

Financial loss: Loss, increase in debts

Spiritual apathy: Decreased interest in devotion and prayers

Therefore, we should always seek refuge in Shiva. With Shiva's grace, no negative energy can affect us.

Prevention of occult powers according to science

According to Hinduism, there are some essential ways to prevent the effects of occult powers. These practical methods empower us, giving us control over our body, mind, and home and helping us keep them pure.

1. Shiva worship:

Chant the mantra "Om Namah Shivaya" 108 times every day. Anointing the Shiva Linga is a powerful solution. Fasting every Monday is best.

a. Using Tulsi and Gomayam (Cow Dung): Keeping a Tulsi plant in the house removes negative energy, and lighting a cow dung lamp increases positive energy.

b. Keeping the house pure: Purifying the house by sprinkling Ganga water daily and keeping Bilva leaves pleasing to Shiva at home.

c. Devotion to Hanuman & Durga Devi: Recite Hanuman Chalisa and visit the Hanuman temple. Worshipping Durga Devi during Navratri

Occult powers may exist whether we believe in them or not. However, the path of devotion, particularly to Shiva, is the most powerful way to overcome them. Shiva, the original God, is our protector; no negative energy can affect us if we believe in him. Therefore, we should be fearless and trust in the purity and power of Shiva, fostering a profound sense of connection and spiritual fulfilment.

III. Adidev Shiva: The Power of Shiva in Eradicating Occult Powers

Devotees consider Shiva as "Adidev", meaning the first God, "Mahadeva", meaning the chief of the gods, and "Supreme Lord", meaning the ultimate power. Shiva holds a significant place in Hinduism. He is worshipped as a divine power that protects his devotees from all kinds of troubles. In particular, worshipping Shiva is the most powerful way to remove the influence of occult powers, achieve self-purification, and live without fear.

Why is Shiva the Supreme Lord?

Shiva is the root cause of the universe's creation, state, and dissolution (destruction). He acts not only as a destroyer but also as a protector. Occult powers, ghosts, and negative energy cannot affect Shiva's devotees. Shiva can naturally control those powers if he wants. Therefore, the influence of negative energies can be avoided through Meditation, devotion, and chanting of Shiva.

Shiva's power – a powerful way to protect devotees

1. Evil forces cannot stand before Shiva

Shiva is the source of all forces. Evil forces and ghosts cannot stand before Him. Chanting Shiva's name creates a powerful protective circle around us.

2. Shiva essence – the power that pervades all time

Shiva is the master of time. Therefore, the influence of any evil force does not remain permanent on the devotees of Shiva. Chanting the mantra "Om Namah Shivaya" creates positive energy around us.

3. Prevention of evil forces with the grace of Shiva

There are some special pujas and mantras to get the grace of Shiva. Shiva worship methods like Mahamrityunjaya Mantra, Rudrabhishekam, and Shiva Lingarchana remove negative energy from us.

Ways to prevent evil forces through Shiva worship

a. Chanting Mahamrityunjaya Mantra

This mantra is said to be very powerful. Chanting it 108 times daily, or at least on Shivaratri and Monday, removes the effects of evil forces.

"Om Tryambakam Yajamahe Sugandhim Pushti Vardhanam |

Urvarukamiva Bandhanan Mrityormukshiya Mamrutat ||"

b. Shiva Linga Abhishekam

Anointing the Shiva Linga with holy materials like water, milk, honey, and Ganga water removes hostile forces in us. Offering Bilva leaves is very pleasing to Shiva.

c. Chanting the 5-letter mantra of Shiva (Panchakshari Mantra)

e. Fasting on Monday

By fasting on Monday and doing special prayers to Shiva, we can get the blessings of Shiva. It keeps our body and mind pure and prevents any chance of negative energy.

f. Visiting the temple of Shiva

If you feel the influence of occult powers, it is best to get Abhishekam done at the nearest Shiva temple. Spending time in the temple premises removes the negative energies around us.

The influence of occult powers is real, but no hostile powers can affect our lives if we take refuge in Shiva. Since Shiva is the Supreme Lord, there is no fear for his devotees. Shiva provides complete protection to those who worship him with mantras, worship, and faith.

"Shambho Shankara! Protect the devotees!" – If we keep the philosophy of Shiva in our lives with this slogan and become Shiva devotees, occult powers cannot move our lives. If we have the grace of Shiva, we should live with the faith that fear will not enter our lives.

IV. Prevention of occult powers through worship of Shiva

The influence of occult powers, negative energy, ghosts, and evil eye—all these negative influences can disturb our peace of mind. But for those who take refuge in Shiva, these fears disappear like darkness in the sunlight. Through the worship of Shiva, we can wipe out the hostile powers in our lives. Shiva is the great God, the Almighty. If we have his blessings, no occult powers can come near us.

There are some essential methods of worshipping Shiva. The most important are Mahamantras, Rudrabhishekam, and devotion to Shiva.

Mahamantras: Powerful Shiva Mantras

1. Mahamrityunjaya Mantra – Shiva's protective shield

This mantra is also known as the "Shiva Param Mantra". It is a powerful Vedic mantra used to get Shiva's blessings. Chanting this mantra removes diseases, the effects of occult powers, illness, fears, and mental distress.

Mantra:

"Om Tryambakam Yajamahe Sugandhim Pushti Vardhanam |

Urvarukamiva Bandhanan Mrityormukshiya Maamrutat ||"

How to chant?

This mantra should be chanted 108 times in the morning or night, sitting quietly. Light a lamp before the Shiva Linga or in an auspicious place in the house and recite it. If a lamp made of cow dung is lit, it completely removes negative energy.

This mantra is most potent if chanted on Monday, Shivaratri, in the month of Ashadha and Kartik.

2. "Om Namah Shivaya" – Panchakshari Mantra

This mantra, the Panchakshari Mantra, is very dear to Lord Shiva. Chanting it every day creates a powerful protective ring around us.

How is it useful?

Occult forces are removed, and mental peace increases. Family relationships improve. Finally, there is development.

Chanting the mantra "Om Namah Shivaya" 21, 51, or 108 times every day is beneficial.

Rudrabhishekam – a powerful way to get the blessings of Shiva

Rudrabhishekam is Shiva's most beloved puja. It can remove all kinds of defects and negative energies in our lives. This abhishekam is done on the Shivalinga with milk, water, honey, sandalwood, betel leaves, and Ganga water.

How to do it?

It is best to do Rudrabhishekam on Monday or the day of Shivaratri. The Shivalinga should be anointed with milk, honey, and Ganga water. The puja should be performed while chanting "Om Namo Bhagavate Rudraya". You can go to your home or temple and get Rudrabhishekam done. Through this puja, the effect of occult powers is wholly removed.

Protection through devotion to Shiva

Shiva always protects his devotees. But if we want to become devotees of Shiva, we must follow some essential rituals.

a. Fasting on Monday: One should fast and light a lamp with ghee on Monday. It is best to anoint the Shivalinga with milk and Panchamrut. Shiva should be worshipped with Bilva leaves in the evening.

b. Keeping the house clean: You can remove the effects of evil spirits by planting a Tulsi plant in the house and sprinkling Ganga water. It is perfect to perform Shiva Homa and Rudrabhishekam on every Shivaratri.

Shiva always protects his devotees. Through Shiva worship, we can eliminate the effects of evil spirits, live without fear, and live healthy and happy.

V. Power that cannot be resisted by occult powers – the divine essence of Shiva

Fear is only a feeling in the mind. We do not need to be afraid because Shiva is there. Shiva is a protective shield for devotees. Occult powers, evil spirits, ghosts, and negative energy have no power before Lord Shiva. He is the Creator, destroyer, and protector. If we take refuge in Shiva, who is called "Mahadeva," there will be no fear in our lives.

Shiva and the path to being free from fear

To eliminate fear, we should seek refuge in Shiva. Shiva provides abhaya (the assurance of being free from fear) to devotees. How?

a. Meditation on Shiva – peace of mind

Sit quietly and meditate on Shiva in the morning or at night. While chanting the mantra "Om Namah Shivaya," visualise the form of Shiva in your mind. It will remove fear from your mind and increase your courage.

b. Visit to Shiva Temple

It is perfect to go to the Shiva temple every Monday, sit in front of the Shiva Linga, and meditate. If you offer Bilva leaves to the Shiva Linga, the negative energy will be removed entirely. Anointing the Shiva Linga with Ganga water will remove the effect of occult powers.

c. Listening to stories of Shiva, reading the Shiva Purana

Listening to stories of Shiva increases our spiritual power. In Shiva Purana, "Bhakta Markandeya" is saved from the God of death by the Mahamrityunjaya mantra. These stories increase our courage and devotion.

Spiritual consciousness and Shiva philosophy

Shiva is not just a god. He is a philosopher, an eternal power. If we understand Shiva's philosophy, we can overcome evil forces, fear, and all difficulties.

a. Shiva philosophy – introversion

Shiva is the embodiment of silence. That is, we should look inward and examine our thoughts. Negative thoughts affect our lives like evil forces. To understand Shiva's philosophy, we should meditate, chant mantras, and do good deeds.

b. Shiva is the protector of all living beings

Another name for Shiva is "Pashupatinath" – the God who protects all living beings. If we surrender entirely to Shiva, the evil forces will not touch us.

c. Shiva's "Neelkantha" principle – accepting difficulties

Shiva swallowed the Halahala in the churning of the ocean and became Neelkantha. There will be no fear if we can accept the challenges that come with Shiva's courage.

When we surrender to Shiva, occult forces, negative energy, and fear disappear. We can live fearless through Meditation on Shiva, chanting, anointing the Shivalinga, listening to the Shiva Purana, and fasting on Mondays. "Om Namah Shivaya"—Chant this mantra daily. Praise the Shivalinga and offer Bilva leaves. Understand Shiva's philosophy, which is to dispel fear and be courageous. Shiva always protects his devotees. "Hara Hara Mahadeva!"—Find peace in life with the shelter of Shiva.

VI. Conclusion

We may feel helpless if fear, illness, negative energy, and the influence of evil forces are present. But one thing should be known: Shiva always protects his devotees! No evil forces can affect us if we have devotion, faith, and Shiva's grace.

Protection of life through devotion, faith, and grace of Shiva

1. Devotion—We should develop devotion to Shiva. Worshipping Shiva with devotion acts as a powerful protective shield.

2. Faith – We should not be afraid but dare to say, "Shiva protects me." A powerful protective ring surrounds us if we chant "Om Namah Shivaya" with faith.

3. Shiva's Blessings— It is perfect to receive Shiva's blessings, anoint the Shivalinga, chant the Mahamrityunjaya mantra, fast on Mondays, and remember Shiva's name.

No evil forces can do anything to us if these three are present.

Shiva's complete victory over evil forces

Shiva destroys fear as Kalabhairava.

As Neelakantha, he destroys all negative energies and protects his devotees.

As Mahamrityunjaya, he wipes out fear, illness, and evil forces.

Shiva, who performs Tandava, destroys ignorance and evil forces.

As long as Shiva exists, we will have no fear!

Remember Shiva every day.

Chant Shiva mantras with faith.

Become a devotee of Shiva, and eliminate fear from your mind.

"Hara Hara Mahadeva!" "Om Namah Shivaya!"

With the blessings of Lord Shiva, we are always protected!
